The short answer: no, cancelling a subscription AutoPay does not hurt your CIBIL score

A UPI AutoPay mandate is a payment instruction you gave your bank — permission for a merchant to pull an amount on a schedule. It is not a loan, not a credit line, and it is not reported to credit bureaus as borrowing. Netflix, Spotify, a gym app, a news site: revoking any of these leaves your score exactly where it was.

The one exception: a loan EMI mandate

Here you must be careful. If the mandate is for a loan EMI, the cancellation itself still does not damage your score — but a missed EMI does. The bureau records the missed payment, not the revoked mandate.

So if you cancel an EMI mandate, arrange another way to pay before the due date: a fresh mandate from another account, net banking, or a manual transfer. Set a reminder two days early.

What actually appears on your credit report

Your credit report tracks borrowing behaviour — loans, credit cards, repayment history, enquiries, how much of your limit you use. Subscription mandates appear nowhere in it. The real risk is the opposite of cancelling: silent debits draining the account until a genuine EMI or credit card payment bounces for insufficient balance. That does show up.

One important note

Cancelling the mandate stops the debit, not the service. Tell the merchant separately, otherwise you may still owe them money or lose access at an awkward moment.

Short FAQ

Does my bank report the cancellation anywhere? No — it is a payment instruction, not a credit event.

Do many cancellations look bad? No. There is no record of them on your credit report, at any number.

Cancel that subscription mandate without fear: your CIBIL score does not care about Netflix. Just treat loan-EMI mandates differently, and make sure the EMI itself is always paid on time.
