Not financial advice
Everything published here is general information about how UPI AutoPay mandates work. It is not financial, legal or tax advice, and it does not account for your personal circumstances. Decisions about your money remain yours. For advice about your situation, speak to your bank or a qualified professional.

Information may be out of date
UPI rules, limits and app screens change often, and they differ from bank to bank. A step that was correct when we wrote it may have moved by the time you read it. Always confirm the current process in your own UPI app, with your bank, or on the official NPCI website.
Before you cancel a mandate
Two things that catch people out:
- Cancelling the mandate stops the payment, not the service. Cancel the subscription with the merchant separately, or dues can keep building up.
- EMI and insurance mandates need care. A missed loan EMI can lower your credit score, and a lapsed insurance premium can end your cover. Arrange another way to pay before cancelling those.
Translations
Our guides are published in many languages. Where a translation and the English version differ, the English version is the one we intend. Tell us about any translation that reads wrongly and we will fix it.
