How to Stop a Bajaj Finserv EMI Auto-Debit
The EMI date is coming and the balance will not be there. Before you look for a way to stop a Bajaj Finserv EMI auto-debit, read this: cancelling the mandate stops the payment, not the debt. The EMI stays legally due.

Step 1: Talk to Bajaj Finserv first
Call the lender before you touch anything — this is the step that actually helps. Ask about changing the EMI date to match your salary credit, a short moratorium or restructuring if your situation has genuinely changed, or switching the debit to another bank account.
You can also find these options in the customer portal or the Bajaj Finserv app — usually My Account / My Relations → the loan → EMI or mandate options. If you are only changing accounts, register the new mandate before cancelling the old one, so no EMI is missed.
Step 2: When cancelling the mandate is the right call
Three clean cases: the loan is fully repaid or foreclosed but the mandate is still live (mandates often outlive the loan); a duplicate debit; or an unauthorised debit you never approved — revoke it and raise a complaint too.
To revoke, open any UPI app linked to that bank account, go to AutoPay / Mandates and revoke the entry. Many EMI mandates are NACH, not UPI AutoPay, and never appear in a UPI app — check net banking → e-mandate / standing instructions.
Step 3: What an unpaid EMI actually costs you
- Bounce and late-payment charges, commonly ₹300–₹1,500 per bounce depending on the lender; your exact figure is in your loan agreement. RBI requires penal charges to be reasonable and not a revenue tool.
- Credit-score damage. Payment history is roughly 35% of a CIBIL score, and an EMI 30 or more days past due gets reported, costing a meaningful number of points.
- Interest can be levied on the overdue amount, and long defaults can trigger recovery action.
One important note
Do not assume a guaranteed grace period protects your score — that claim circulates online but cannot be relied on. If an EMI is missed, pay it fast and tell the lender. This is information, not financial advice; talk to your lender before any big decision.
Short FAQ
Does cancelling the mandate cancel the loan? No — the debt and the EMI remain due.
Loan closed but mandate still live? Then revoking is exactly right.
The mandate is only a payment pipe; it changes nothing about what you owe. Speak to Bajaj Finserv first, and revoke only once the loan is settled or the debit is wrong.
