How to Cancel a YouTube Premium Membership UPI Mandate
Money leaves your account every month for YouTube Premium, and the cancel button is not where you looked. There are two different billing routes, so to cancel a YouTube Premium membership UPI mandate you first have to cancel in the right place — then stop the mandate at your bank.

Step 1 (merchant side): cancel the membership
If you subscribed on the web or in the YouTube app:
- Go to youtube.com/paid_memberships, or in the app tap profile → Purchases and memberships.
- Tap Manage.
- Choose Deactivate and confirm.
If you subscribed through Google Play billing, it is cancelled somewhere else entirely: Play Store → Subscriptions → YouTube Premium → cancel. If Deactivate is missing on the YouTube page, this is your route. Check both before you give up.
Step 2 (mandate side): revoke the UPI mandate
Cancelling the membership does not remove the mandate sitting at your bank.
- PhonePe: profile icon (top-left) → Manage AutoPay → Google/YouTube → Cancel AutoPay
- Google Pay: profile picture (top-right) → Autopay → pick it → Cancel autopay
- Paytm: profile icon → UPI Automatic Payments → Manage → pick it → Cancel
- BHIM: Mandate → My Mandates → Revoke
Any UPI app linked to that bank account will do, whichever app created the mandate.
Why both steps are needed
Revoking only the mandate leaves your membership technically active, so you may owe Google or lose Premium at a random moment. Cancelling only the membership can leave a live mandate a future plan reuses. Do the membership first, then the mandate.
One important note
Mandates run to their end date and never expire early on their own. If a debit is already in flight, cancelling today may not stop that one — act a few days before the renewal date.
Short FAQ
Does Premium stop instantly? No, it usually runs until the end of the period you paid for.
How do I know which billing route I used? Open Play Store → Subscriptions. If YouTube Premium is listed there, that is your route.
Cancel in the right place — YouTube or Play Store — and then revoke the UPI mandate. Only that pair guarantees the deduction stops next month.
