How to Cancel a Subscription AutoPay in Paytm

₹199 is gone from your account again, and the SMS shows a merchant name you barely recognise. If the mandate sits on your Paytm-linked account, cancelling it takes under a minute — the only hard part is knowing where Paytm keeps the list.

How to cancel a subscription AutoPay in Paytm

  1. Open the Paytm app and tap your profile icon.
  2. Go to UPI Automatic Payments. If you cannot see it, go to Settings → UPI & Payment Settings.
  3. Tap Manage to see every active mandate on your linked account.
  4. Select the subscription you want to stop.
  5. Tap Cancel and confirm.

The same section also shows your mandate history, so you can check what was debited and when.

You are not limited to Paytm

A mandate can be revoked from any UPI app linked to that bank account — not only the app that created it. If Paytm is not showing something you expected, open PhonePe (profile icon → Manage AutoPay) or Google Pay (profile picture → Autopay) with the same account linked. And if you hold accounts at more than one bank, check each account separately.

Step two: tell the merchant as well

Cancelling the mandate stops the money, not the subscription. Cancel the plan on the merchant's own app or website too, otherwise you may run up an unpaid balance or lose access suddenly mid-month. Do the merchant side first, then revoke the mandate.

One important note

Mandates do not quietly expire early; they run to their end date. And if a debit was above ₹15,000, it would have paused for your UPI PIN — that is the AFA threshold. The exceptions are insurance premiums, mutual fund SIPs and credit card bills, where the limit is ₹1,00,000.

Short FAQ

Will cancelling stop a debit already in progress? No. Cancel a few days before the next due date.

Can I restart it later? Yes — subscribe again with the merchant and approve a fresh mandate with your UPI PIN.

Paytm makes cancelling a UPI AutoPay a five-tap job once you know the path. Just remember the second half — the merchant — or the charge finds its way back.
