How to Cancel a Navi Loan EMI AutoPay Mandate

Maybe you closed the loan and the auto-debit still shows up. Maybe next month is tight. Either way, before you cancel a Navi loan EMI AutoPay mandate, know this: revoking the mandate stops the payment, not the loan. The EMI stays legally due.

Step 1: Contact Navi support first

Start with the lender, not your UPI app. In the Navi app go to Loans → the loan → EMI / autopay settings, and raise your request through in-app support. Ask about moving the EMI date closer to your salary credit, a short moratorium or restructuring if your income has genuinely changed, or changing the debit to another bank account.

If you are switching accounts, register the new mandate before you cancel the old one — in that order, no EMI is missed. A conversation with the lender is almost always cheaper than a bounced EMI.

Step 2: When cancelling the mandate is correct — and how

Three situations where revoking is right: the loan is fully repaid or foreclosed but the mandate is still active (mandates often outlive the loan); a duplicate debit; or an unauthorised debit you never approved — revoke it and raise a complaint too.

To revoke, open any UPI app linked to that bank account, go to AutoPay / Mandates and revoke the entry. If it is not there, the mandate is probably NACH, a separate rail that never appears in UPI apps; check net banking → e-mandate / standing instructions.

Step 3: What it costs if the EMI goes unpaid

  • Bounce or late-payment charges, commonly ₹300–₹1,500 per bounce depending on the lender; your exact figure is in your loan agreement. RBI requires penal charges to be reasonable, not a revenue tool.
  • Credit-score damage. Payment history is roughly 35% of a CIBIL score, and an EMI 30 or more days past due gets reported, costing a meaningful number of points.
  • Interest can be levied on the overdue amount, and prolonged default can trigger recovery action.

One important note

A widely repeated claim says a 30-day grace period protects your score. Do not rely on it. If an EMI is missed, clear it fast and tell Navi. This is information, not financial advice — talk to your lender before any big decision.

Short FAQ

Will cancelling reduce what I owe? No — the outstanding amount is unchanged.

I have foreclosed the loan, can I revoke? Yes, once you have the closure confirmation.

Speak to Navi first and fix the payment, not just the pipe. Revoke the mandate once the loan is closed or the debit is genuinely wrong.
