How to Cancel JioHotstar Subscription Auto-Renew

A three-month pack you took for one cricket series has now renewed twice. Since Disney+ Hotstar and JioCinema merged into JioHotstar in February 2025, the settings are not where you remember them. Here is how to cancel JioHotstar subscription auto-renew and stop the UPI debit behind it.

Step 1 (merchant side): turn off auto-renew on JioHotstar

1. Open the JioHotstar app (earlier Disney+ Hotstar) or the website and sign in.
2. Tap your profile.
3. Go to Subscriptions or My Plan.
4. Turn off auto-renew, or cancel the plan outright.
5. Confirm, and save the confirmation.

Plans sit at around ₹149 for three months with ads and around ₹299 a month ad-free. Prices change, so treat those as rough.

Step 2 (mandate side): revoke the UPI AutoPay mandate

• PhonePe: profile icon (top-left) → Manage AutoPay → JioHotstar → Cancel AutoPay
• Google Pay: profile picture (top-right) → Autopay → pick it → Cancel autopay
• Paytm: profile icon → UPI Automatic Payments → Manage → pick it → Cancel
• BHIM: Mandate → My Mandates → Revoke

Any UPI app linked to that bank account can revoke it, even if the mandate was created elsewhere.

Why one step is not enough

Turning off auto-renew without revoking the mandate leaves a live instruction at your bank that a future plan can reuse. Revoking the mandate without cancelling the plan can leave you owing JioHotstar or losing access mid-cycle. Do both, in that order.

One important note

Cancelling does not cut your access today — you keep watching until the paid period ends. And mandates run to their end date; they do not quietly expire on their own.
